There have been many conversations on this. Those that had purchased the ranking system from Scripts4Ning can still have it on their sites (a complicated buy out was involved). Nings leaderboards was the answer to replace the ranking system. Sadly it isn't as effective. Effectively, Ning has never had a ranking system so they never stopped. It was a third party ap which is no longer available.

Thanks Tom! Bottom line Alex, it's no longer available as Tom explained. It's sad to see it go. And I've even noticed for those of us who still have the rankings system, it's not working properly.

I found that the leaderboard also chane to top 20 countdown and no classification! Feels more interesting!
