Comment by Fire-Tech on February 4, 2012 at 12:18am Hi Jay,
It really just depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Personally, for businesses, I like using groups and group pages. You can make mini networks for the individual companies for either a private setting or a public one and use the group pages for the company information and promotions. It helps organize things so you don't have 10K normal pages of different topics down the road and have a tag / filter the search function nightmare.
I also like to make a group for a specific directory (all companies that sell dinglehoppers together in the same group); then I-Frame each of their existing websites into a new page within the group and allow comments. This way, they don't have another professional profile to maintain but can still talk within the network. I use the main wall within the group for instructions on how to add their company to the dinglehopper directory.
It also makes it easy to add a link in your main directory to the "all pages in the group" (name the group dinglehopper listings) and then once again, you don't have to put as much effort onto tagging or search functions. Works great if you have a lot of businesses and are just looking to list them all.
You may want to start a new discussion here instead of the wall. It will make it easier for others to throw some ideas out there for ya.
Good luck!
Comment by Jay Frye on February 3, 2012 at 11:12pm Hey Guys
I'm creating a new network dedicated to events and business in my local area. I will be creating custom "pages" on my site for each businesses that I work with.
The question is what is the most efficient way to go about doing this
should I be using the pages, notes, blogs ect.... what are you experiences what works the best?

There are several elements, and many ways to make it stand out. This should get you started:
/* background color behind main body of module */
.xg_widget_main .module_blog .xg_module_body {
background-color:#e6e6e6!important;
}
/* background color behind each post, and border at top and bottom of each post */
.xg_widget_main .module_blog div.blogpost {
padding:2px;
background-color:#D5E8F5!important;
border-bottom: 1px dashed #FFFFFF;
border-top: 3px solid #FFFFFF;
}

Comment by YouBihar on August 9, 2011 at 4:57pm Hello.
I wish to add scroll bars for forum and blog posts on the right hand column (not on the homepage). I am using the new design studio. I would be grateful of anyone could help with the code. The site is here. Thanks

Comment by JenSocial on July 4, 2011 at 10:22pm Sorry, just seeing this. Looks like you have some weird wrapping going on. You may have some hidden characters that's causing errors.
Best Regards,
Jen
