A browser toolbar just for Ning Network Creators.
This toolbar will install within your browser, and will be with you, every website you browse.

SPECIAL SEARCH BOXES FOR NING NETWORKS AND NING HELP:
There are 2 special NING HELP SEARCH BOXES, that will enable you to perform a combination HELP search on:
  • Ning Directory
  • Ning Creators
  • Ning Blog
  • Ning Help
To Activate the Google version of Ning Help Search, click on dropdown arrow to the right of "Web or Ning". Click on "Search Ning Help Links". Now, when you enter search words in the Search Box, you will search all of the sites listed above! This is a great way to find Ning tips and help. The "Search Type" setting will hold, until you change it. BTW, this same HELP SEARCH is offered here on the Ning Directory, in the main TIPS Discussion Box.

The other Ning Help Search is in the main toolbar menu, and labeled: Ning (icon) Help. This is the Bing Search Engine version. They both work great - - whatever is your preference!

Also, there are 2 versions of the "Find Ning Networks" Search Box. You will find in the same drop-down labeled "Web or Ning", and one in the main toolbar, labeled: "Find Nings".
BTW, this special Search Box is available on the home page, here on the Ning Directory!

JEN'S EXPERIENCE, AND HOW GREAT IS THIS TOOLBAR?
I really can't say enough about this toolbar. I couldn't do without it. I've been using it for a year, and I just rebuilt it, just for Ning Network Creators! Plus, although it's very difficult to make any revenue from toolbar, this one should become so popular that it may help maintain the site. WATCH OUT for future surprises. I will be adding interesting apps, like Featured Members on the Ning Directory. And guess what? We're already getting more traffic from this toolbar, based on Google searches!

First, I am very picky about any add-ons to my browser. I especially will not keep anything that churns my hard drive, or slows things down. This toolbar is awesome, and does none of that. I've been using it for almost a year, and decided to share. I'm always looking up at the Weather button, I have 10 email accounts added to the email center - - I never have to sign-in to different accounts. I just click on the drop down and select. I use the Hulu button to watch TV and Movies (US only, sorry). There's a TV button with great International Channels. I've added all main Ning links, Ning Platform Status, Ning Tweets, Ning Tips, and it even has a ton of Social Network Interfaces like Twitter and Facebook. Yep, you can send Tweets to your Twitter Account, right from this toolbar. I'll list more of the conveniences, below:

  • Click on the red D, and goto Ning Directory, quickly.
  • From Search Box Drop-down: Search Web, Combo Search of Ning Help Sites, and Find Ning Networks! Very powerful feature.
  • Setup your multiple email accounts, no more signing in to each account.
  • Watch your local Weather.
  • Select from many Radio Stations.
  • Watch the News/TV.
  • Watch Movies.
  • Keep up with Ning Tweets, including AskJen.
  • Ning Links - from Ning Dir to Ning Creators!
  • Ning Platform Status RSS (updated every 30 minutes).
  • Combo Search for Ning Help Topics - Bing Version.
  • Ning Tips from the Ning Directory
  • Find Nings - find Ning Networks, same as in drop-down Search Box.>/li>
  • Over 20 Social Networking Interfaces, like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and even Ning!
  • Gadgets from Games to Dictionary. Depending on your screen resolution, this toolbar feature may be hidden. To access, click on far right >>.

For those of you who have your own Toolbar, pop me an email if you want any of these individual components. There's a new option of adding each component, individually, to other toolbars.

SOME TIPS ON USING THE TOOLBAR:

1. Search Tips:
The Main Search upper left is Google Search Engine. You can click on down arrow where it says "Web or Ning", select "Search", and it will give you the full Google Search. Or, when it says "Web or Ning", you are also "set to" a full Google Search. Or, you can select "Search Ning Help Sites", which only searches the special key Ning Help Sites for your help topic.

The extra "Help" search button between "Status" and "Tips" is by Bing. I really liked how it worked within the bar (pop-up), and so, I added a Bing and Google. The Google is actually how the toolbar could bring in clicks or pennies.

2. How to Customize:
Click on the far-most left "down-arrow". You will find it to the right of the red "D".
Click on Toolbar Options.
Click on the tab labeled "Predefined Components". This screen allows you to toggle on/off the installed components. Also, you'll find other interesting settings from these tabs.

l think l will try it as long as it does not pull my computer to a slow down.
WOW! great. l really love the country music while l am typing away. Nice, wonderful, great. Thanks.
Glad you like it! I've been using this toolbar for a long time - - so far it's never ever caused me any issues. There is a drop down menu far left next to the red D. You do need to upgrade the software every few months or so.
Hope you're having a wonderful Holiday Season.
Best to you as always,
;-)
Jen
I wanted to mention this. I've noticed, sometimes it takes a minute to load a new radio station. Just be patient when changing channels, don't touch keyboard. This is pretty normal. Once it loads, it's smooth sailing.

I love being able to listen to my favorite flavor of NPR (National Public Radio), out of Minnesota.
:-)
I don't think this will ever "really" be available. If you think about it, many Ning Networks don't want to be known as powered by Ning. I do believe Ning is working on a new Search/Discovery feature.

Also, the Power Search on the home page here, really rocks. Basically it's a google search that only searches domains with .ning, for the keywords you enter. To me, it's better than the search that Ning used to have on ning.com. Plus, I am trying my best to figure out how I can add it to the Browser Toolbar, you just downloaded. I'll keep you posted.

BTW, the "Ning Bing" in your toolbar is a great way to find help topics, across "key" Ning Help sites. And that is also built into the main Search labeled "Web or Ning Searches" - - on that one, select the Search Ning Help Links.

Thanks!
Jen
Thanks Jen
Download no problem only the radio doesn't accept my station only the first time so I'm not worried about it.
Can we have our ning sites loaded onto the Toolbar, maybe our favourite ning sites also. Sure would be handy.
Good tip Thanks
Cheers
Deborah
Excellent question on the links! I'm looking to see if there is a way for a toolbar user to add their own links. I'll get back when I find out.
Best,
Jen
Hi Deborah,
So far I can't find a way, so sorry. You could create your own conduit toolbar. But, I'd hate to lose you from the group. I'm hoping and thinking, someday the chat will be used between Network Creators.

It's really a shame. You can click on the + sign in far right side of bar, and add all kinds of stuff - - yet, no personal links. I'll sure let you know if I find a way.
Best,
Jen
I am really liking the toolbar, but I am still getting used to it. I need to remove stuff and add others. I am hoping to get all my ning pages added.
Hi Keys to the Mystical Moon, I just answered a similar question, and wanted to answer you about customization, and give a few more tips about the toolbar. 1. The Main Search upper left is Google Search Engine. You can click on down arrow where it says "Web or Ning", select "Search" which is the full Google Search. Or, when it says "Web or Ning", you are also "set to" a full Google Search. Or, you can select "Search Ning Help Sites", which only searches the special key Ning Help Sites for your help topic. BTW, the extra "Help" button between "Status" and "Tips" is by Bing. I just loved how it worked within the bar (pop-up), and so, I added a Bing and Google. The Google is actually how the toolbar could bring in clicks or pennies.
2. How to Customize: Click on the far-most left "down-arrow". You will find it to the right of the red "D". Click on Toolbar Options. Click on the tab labeled "Predefined Components". This screen allows you to toggle on/off the installed components. Also, you'll find other interesting settings from these tabs.

Hope this helps, Jen
I love this tool bar! Thanks Jen!
Great! Glad you like the toolbar. Anyone can build one of the Conduit Toolbars. But, I really planned the design of this one, just for Ning Network Creators - - lot of thought went into it.
