I had to stop and take care of this. :-) Here's what I just sent out to our members on PB.
Hi Everyone,
I hope this message finds you and your pet kids doing well!
Okay, yesterday I sent out a broadcast message about a serious alert, that Dogs were stolen from a Rescue Shelter in Johnson City, Tennessee. I researched 2 hours before sending out the alert. And it appeared that the story was very real.
Now, I receive an email from another member and friend, the story is false.
http://www2.tricities.com/tri/news/local/article/police_search_for_alleged_dog-nappers_in_johnson_city/39334/
Then, I receive a message and link to this site:
http://www.caninehoperescue.org/
that although there was a false police report and charges made against the owners, the dogs are still missing.
So, I took this to another level. I just got off the phone with Johnson City Police Department. I spoke with them at length, and even gave them the website address where the owners claim the dogs are still missing. The lady has assured me, and I can only go by what the Police has reported, and listen with my own ears - - they have stated "There are no missing dogs, to our knowledge."
I apologize for this inconvenience. But naturally, being an animal lover, I felt it important to spread the word.
I guess we all have to go with our own feelings on this. Personally, I choose to believe the Johnson City Police.
Thanks for understanding,
Bragger

I just got the news. It appears that the story was made up - - and I researched for hours, before telling you about it. I'm really sorry. Here's the update:

Hope this finds you doing well, hon. Miss you

I received a very serious alert about dogs being stolen from a rescue in Johnson City, TN on January 19, 2010. Sadly, I believe it's true. I copy/pasted the original email and sent out a blast to everyone on PB. I'll attach the HTML source, if you want to use it. It's not pretty, but I felt it was so urgent, I just barely cleaned it up. It's got some squirrely looking code, but I sent myself a preview email about 3 times. It came through fine on all. LOL, I just realized how much better off I would had been to copy/paste from this website:

I didn't call the police to see if it's true, cause it's so late. I will tomorrow. I feel it is. :-(
Hugs,
Jen
