Suggest Alternative Solutions to Ning

Assisting and Encouraging Fellow Ning Network Creators with Free Networks

With the recent announcement by Ning: ..."phasing out free sites", this Group has been created to give a place where fellow Network Creators can assist, and encourage each other, and suggest alternative solutions to Ning.

Please offer and discuss possible solutions, for owners of free Ning Networks. And most of all, let's all offer encouragement to our fellow Ning Network Creators.

I have moved my 1000 strong site to grou.ps, although not perfect its the best of the rest (believe me I have set up alot of sites this week to try them out !!!)
Grou.ps is only a small platform , but watching it over the last 12 months , i have seen great improvements.

When you create a group, remember to add the elements that you want in the group, like members of the group, topic box and comment box. Just try it out, there is no law you have to stay.

We will learn as we go along. And there is help there, They have a little icon on help under the manage my site tab. l am surprise that l made it look that good. l took the temp plate with tthe larger header they do have all kinds to try.

Comment by Magic Happens on April 18, 2010 at 3:26pm: Path Of The Craft, When you go to manage my site tab, they have all kinds of things in there, l used just a graphic l saved to my computer and set it to repeat,and l use seamless tiles for the back ground and set repeat. You can set you page layout like you want, l think just playing around you will get the look you want and learn to add the elements, It is a little different to get use to but it will grow on you. It may become bigger then ning.
