Suggest Alternative Solutions to Ning

Assisting and Encouraging Fellow Ning Network Creators with Free Networks

With the recent announcement by Ning: ..."phasing out free sites", this Group has been created to give a place where fellow Network Creators can assist, and encourage each other, and suggest alternative solutions to Ning.

Please offer and discuss possible solutions, for owners of free Ning Networks. And most of all, let's all offer encouragement to our fellow Ning Network Creators.

Comment by The Pagan Umbrella on April 20, 2010 at 6:45am: I have been watching all of the activity since word that ning would be phasing us out. I have added some of my own thoughts. Now I will add another. There are alot of free hosts out there and true they aren't like ning and the set ups are different, but they are still free and at this point, will stay that way.
I my self have taken the Umbrella over to spruz and changed the name to fit what the Umbrella has come to truly be about.
It took some work and a lot of time, but I was sucsessful in getting things done.
Here's the thing folks, you have a choice, find somewhere else to go and make due, shut down your community altogether, or pay the BLACKMAIL money to stay on ning.
I chose not to pay or to close my community down. I chose to move, make the best of it and make my community better than it ever was.

Makes me very figgity about putting a lot of time into anything of value. Makes you wonder, are they trying to get rid of their free accounts, or their premium accounts, or both? There actions don't seem to make much sense!

Comment by Magic Happens on April 19, 2010 at 5:05pm: Ning is good on this creativity, but with feedback on the other social network, we can build another site in time better may be even then ning.
And ning was not always like it is today, it was the people that understand codes that build ning up.

So we can do this on other sites as well. But either way, l am hanging in there to see what ning has to say. Ning is not going to pull the plug as soon as they announce their plans, we have every bit is not a little more of ten weeks to move if that is what we want to do. Just look around and have a back up. But also remember the members will move with you but not every few weeks or so.

We as creators and members need to learn all over again but we can !
