Wow, so much discussion on Creators.ning.com, we need more than Goggles to dodge the flying debris. Maybe a pair of knee high boots would help, too?

Ning 3.0 - - With all that's been discussed, from boycotts to debates, promises and rumors, you staying or going?

I'm up for the challenge, excited about the end product, and moving forward. What about you?

www.roleplaysocial.net is moving to www.roleplaysocial.me(which is a grou.ps site)

I feel that what ning has done to use is beyond redemption at this point. I've spent what seems like my life the last year and more working on my site. Designing it and getting members to join it, whilst waiting for ning to release only a few certain updates that I wanted to make it perfect. Now we have to change everything after we've finally started to pick up and actually be something?

Grou.ps is amazing. I was skeptical at first, because I tried them in the past and it wasn't so good. Now it's just amazing. If you were looking for features like facebook, then this is a great place for that.

You can poke people, there is a normal activity + a friend activity feed, you can upload videos, add videos from embed, and embeded youtube videos autoplay like youtube. Site design is very easy to customize if you know basic css, and Wiki's are great for everything!

You get activity points for being active, posting topics, photos, etc and you can choose the point level of each. You can create different rolls which people can earn by gaining so many activity points. I did that and made it so member who get 1000 points can customize there profiles, or for people who donate.

Only downside is it seems slightly slower then the ning site and the chat doesn't allow you to delete messages or clear it. It does however have a chat history tab, which makes it nice for those communities that have moderators.

Its great!

Hi Roleplaysocial.me,

Wow, thanks for this nice assessment on Grou.ps. Sounds like they've come a long way. I hope you enjoy your new platform.

Thanks again,

Jen

I am staying as admin of several networks on Ning - but as network creator: since today my ning.com account "says" to me that I haven't created any network (because I requested a network ownership transfer) - so I left ning.com as network creator (but I will stay, too - to manage the site which I created in July 2007 - just as a passionate admin. I just own now the domain address only - on which overtones.ning.com is running.

What about the migration? I am not sure if the members of www.overtone.cc will accept to lose their profile page themes and - right now - a profile page on a new Ning 3.0 looks really poor. A profile question allows only 4000 characters - and it is not possible to add html characters into a profile question - some members of overtone.cc have done this - so I am interested to see how to manage the migration and what will be possible then. Actually I have now a date for the migration of overtone.cc - I think it have to be March 20th 2014.

Hi Jens,

Nice to hear you'll still be around. Thank you for your thoughts, and hoping the migration will go well for overtone.cc.

Best to you,

Jen

Thanks!

Hi Lunatics,

I agree, does look like they've come a long way. Good luck with the new platform, and sorry to see you go.

Best Regards,

Jen

Oh, gosh, here the Ningalings go again. I'm tired of Ning and Facebook moving my furniture around in MY HOUSE whenever they feel like it. The only difference is that Facebook is free and Ning IS NOT.
My only question is ....
Will my site still look the same or do I have to rebuild everything from scratch again? Will my scripts, CSS, and codes work with the new upgrade?
If it doesn't, I will be contacting every social media to let them know that we are being ripped off.
I am tired of Ning's inability to make changes without messing up, interrupting, and interfering with the hard work people have put into building their sites over the years. Let's not forget those who have paid tons of money for scripts and codes in the past to customize their sites to make it what it is today.
Are they willing to reimburse customers who probably just paid or hired web designers to work on their sites only to find out that within the next twelve months those codes and scripts won't work?
I visited DIVAlicious site and it ran slow when I moved from page to page.
If this is the case, it is incongruous, and I will definitely be looking at all my options carefully.
I don't need another site headache. I just want some cyber-PEACE. UGH!!!

Thanks for your thoughts, Predestined by God ! Yes, the DIVAlicious site is not a good example for these new Ning 3.0 networks. The site ran slow and the photos on the /pics section are too big for the screen of my PC.

My same questionsa re: Will my site still look the same or do I have to rebuild everything from scratch again? Will my scripts, CSS, and codes work with the new upgrade? - I think that they do not work. - as I have written here - I have seen on a Ning 3.0 test site that profile questions are limited with 4000 characters and HTML are not supported in profile questions, too. How shall I migrate a profile like this one:

V. Nadishana plays: dzuddahord,
kalyuka,
fujara, sitar,
mandola,
acoustic
and electric
guitar, fretless bass, chanzy, russian
gusli
, tambura,
jew's harp,
kou
xiang
, dan
moi
, double
dan moi
, morsing,
ncaas,
khomus,
darabuka,
djembe, kalangu, udu,
frame
drums
, tambujira,
berimbao,
balafon,
kalimba,
bawu, tsaaj
nplaim
, duduk,
kaval, ocarina,
low whistle,
water
cooler bottle
,
thermo flask
,
bansuri
, quena,
zhaleyka,
bagpipe,
hulusi, overtone
flutes
, talking
teapot,
pruzhingum,
huge glass
bottle
, plastrimbaphon, rablorrum, ghostcatchers,
pin-sansa,
spring-pivot-gamelan,
banbang,
sampler surgery...etc.
if a member added HTML hyperlinks to answer a profile question. Some members of my network added an iFrame music player widget or youtube video to their profile questions - as an answer to instruments ... or just an image like this one:

Instruments:

Will all these details corrupted / destroyed if I have to migrate my network to the new Ning 3.0? - if no one from Ning replies to my question - what does that means? I think a Ning 3.0 member profile page will be a bad joke after the migration.

Wow, you're definitely looking at a dilemma.  Sorry...

I am so disappointed every time with their "changes".  I was "suspended" from the Creator's Network since wayyyyyyy last year.  I apparently, stepped on a Ningle-Toe, mind you, what I said wasn't bad - just truth that I guess made him angry enough to close the door on me.  He must still be angry because I am unable to get into the "sandbox" to test.  Daddy always said if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.

Yet, they show up on my Dashboard with Announcements.  I'm a paid customer with three Ning sites but I can't get in.  They can take my money monthly but make it difficult for me to get updates?  Go figure!

I just contacted them from my website. Let's see what happens.  I just want to test it so that I can make a "business decision" of staying or leaving.

PbG, I hope they reinstate your membership, silly when you were removed. I remember.

I loved your cooler bottle and tsaaj nplaim performance.  Beautiful!!!
