So, what's the purpose of this Scam? Curious...

Here's a spam email I received to my private email that has rarely been shared. It's obviously a scam, but I can't figure out what? Has anyone ever seen this email? I've never written any blog with this title. LOL

Her/Their email address is just a gmail account. It's no biggie, just curious if anyone knows what this is about. Trust me, I wouldn't take their money if it were $500 especially anything to do with my PayPal account, so that's not the purpose for my creating this post - - just learning...

Thanks in advance,

Jen

Hi Jen,

I enjoyed reading your post, 'MY FIRST BLOG ABOUT FIRST AID COURSE'. Right now I am looking for quality sites to host advertising and because of this post, and others, I thought your site would be a good fit :)

You'll get paid $50 via PayPal for simply placing a text link into one of your older posts. The link would go to an educational help site on a topic similar to your own post. Please let me know if you are at all interested! I would love to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks

I haven't seen that one before.

Hi jen

I have seen this before and ive had others similar emails i seem to get them from African and Nigerian senders  - it  was sent to my Shine on Scotland campaign email. Thankfully as i get so much spam for help and donations etc that gmail spammed it - but wow you don't half  get some scams !

I have another about a well known UK charity / foundation announcing that you have been awarded a grant I will forward it so you can pass on to any non profits in your network !

Ning should build a ning ban list so we can all share the email addresses of potential spammers !

soz the purpose is they use a app to scan your contact's and grab your list, simply answer it in anyway or sometimes even if you open it to say F*** OFF they have all your email contacts, facebook and twitter account details

Thanks Katie and Ryan.

Ryan, yeah good point on just answering, which of course I would never do. But seems there's more to this than just harvesting email accounts, but I can't figure this one out. I think it may have something to do with trying to capture paypal details, but who knows?

Thanks again for your input.

Best,

Jen

Also with alot of email scams they tell you to click a link to get the money or something and the link that you click on sends you to an address that puts a visrus onto your computer so that they can get all your details.

Good point.

=)

Best Regards,

Jen
