It depends on where all you want to remove it. Until July, you will need to purchase Ning's premium services for:
Remove Promotional Links (like in the Ning Bar and the About Box)
Domain Redirect (which means you need to purchase your own domain name)

In July when the new Ning premium services are implemented, these 2 services will be included in the overall package. From what I'm understanding, Ning will actually be removing most all Ning branding, or the instance of the word "Ning". At that time it will be an option of using a redirect to your domain name, not required.

Domain Name Redirection Instructions

Personally, I like GoDaddy. The way you purchase a domain is via a domain registrar. You search for the domain name you would like to procure, and the registrar will let you know if it's available or not. Here's the link on GoDaddy:
http://www.godaddy.com/

Here are the instructions to complete the entire process:
1. From your Ning Network, go to Manage/ Use Your Own Domain - - to subscribe to this premium service.
2. Go to your domain registrar, like GoDaddy for example. Follow these instructions (GoDaddy specific or other directions from this help page). These instructions seem very complicated. They're not, long as you follow them step-by-step:

3. Wait approximately two days. When the URL works/sticks, then take the final step. In other words, when you can access your site via the new redirect, take the final step, #4.
4. This step is what changes all URLs on your Ning, and not just the home page.
On your Ning Network, Go to Manage/Advanced Options/Domain Registration and select the redirect that you placed with your Registrar.
