The scrolling Who's Online you see on the home page and member page is special code. It is not available to new Ning Networks, per Ning. Wish I had better news. I can't even add the code to a new Ning, if I created one.

That code is part of the former Scripts4Ning 3rd party subscription service. Ning took over the maintenance of the scripts, and they are no longer available to new accounts.
