Conversation on Twitter with former Mode Media/CEO, Former CEO of Ning

May 18, 2016

For what it's worth, finally "heard" from someone involved with Ning, the former Ning CEO - - and (just found out today, Former of Mode Media/CEO, as well), Samir Arora. It wasn't much, but great to hear he is listening. Does this mean Ning will improve their communication dialogue with Ning Creators? Who knows? But, maybe, just maybe, they will start listening, or at least tell Ning Creators their plans for the future of this platform. Honestly, this is the first time in 2 years I have heard one word from this company, other than support calls, "...working on the issues, updates to come..." AND the announcement: Notice of 2016 Storage Limit and Pricing Plan Changes. I just wanted to share this with you all. If you want to follow on Twitter, click on one of the links, below.

phpFox - Build Your Own Social Community!

I will continue to  design sites on Ning, help maintain existing sites. BUT, I am about to embrace the new version of phpFox! I love what I'm seeing.

This Blog post started out with sharing a very short Twitter response from the former CEO of Ning and Mode Media. It's turned into an active discussion on Ning alternatives. Join the conversation.

Kos, I couldn't agree more, unbelievable, the whole thing. I hope your member (and all) are back in.

Jen I'm finally back up as well although I've yet to hear back from my member who hasn't been able to get in for two weeks.  I gave them his IP but it still blows my mind that Nings asking for that and/or a traceroute.  I've never EVER had to provide that to an host.  How embarrassing, truly.  Glad you're back 'in'

Roxy Wordpress.com is fine if you're just running a blog but if you need more, you'll need wordpress.org.  Get a c-panel thru your domain provider and you can upload Wordpress through it.  Feel free to drop me PM if you want to exchange phone #s and I'll answer what I can.  It's definitely not a bad platform to learn at all.  Over 2000 themes and thousands of plugins (like photos, events, chat, etc.) to choose from.  You can get it up in a weekend and being the biggest, you won't have to worry about it imploding like Ning has.

Well, well, well - - 2 frigging days later, I'm finally on my own site! I am so disillusioned with it all, about all I can say for now. Love you guys!

I'm good here and my 3.0 sites, but can't get into creators.

A trace route can be run through your internet service provider. They'll probably identify a place where either Ning's server is not accepting your connection, or your ISP is not accepting Ning's.

It's essentially pinging.

I got a support answer back asking me to  run a trace route, too. I don't even know what the hell that is!!!!  smh

Now we have members complaining that they can't log on, and our images aren't posting at all.  Just a little square where the pic is supposed to be.

It's disgusting.  I receive a 500 error on Creators as well.  Ning acts like it's no big deal, moving like a snail.  Alright I'll stop bitching now.  We all know the sad story.

Poor Jen. It's ridiculous. My site is up, I can reach it as can most others, but no one can upload images. Ning Creators have become the untouchables of Mode Media.
