Social networking is a phenomena that is still unfolding. Ning networks change the game allowing anyone to easily create a high end customizable community around their interests. If there is one challenge we have learned after a few years and over 500,000 networks- to many of these sites are essentially non-active with an average participation less than 7 members.

We created our own social network with a similar idea to the directory. Our goal is primarily to be a social network of choice because of the quality of networking and the activities we present. Go ahead and check us out. We are not in a hurry and are not soliciting. However, we look forward to offering some services to members and our ambitions are unlimitted. . Most importantly, we want members who will come in and help make our community great. For that, we will support you however we can whether your interests are personal, professional, or organizational in nature.

It's a work in progress. Our philosophy is simply to present and deliver what we would want in a social network. So whether or not Area Light is for you depends on your individual preferences.

Right now we are featuring:

Area Light Member Services (BETA) - courtesy services for every end-user including personal, professional, organizational, conferencing, scheduling, membership planning, and concierge navigation.

Area Light Collective (Early BETA)- A collaborative, modifiable, and interactive knowledge-base for anything and everything Area Light Members explore.

Area Light Explorer- our version of an online magazine. We explore sites and write reviews. The project extends to outreach in other Ning networks, and a blog contemplating the project as a whole.

Networking by Geographic Location- another challenge in social networking is getting people to really network and to meet in person. One of our primary themes will be in creating groups by location.

We also focus in on the social networking phenomena with our Area Light Blog, our group The Next Big Ning, and our group Holonic Organization. It is our pleasure to introduce Ning to as many people as possible and even help them familiarize to the point they are ready to create their own network. We are also very network creator friendly. Our ambition is to be a hub for network creators and we are slowly carving ourselves a niche as experts. At some point, Area Light will be able to extend premium services all geared at optimizing the online experience. It's our intention to extend these type of opportunities through our members too. So if you have something to add in personal interests, professional capacities, or even through some form of alignment with your network or business- then let's network!

Oh yeah...let's not forget Area Light's creator, Nascent Dynamics ( ). If you look carefully, you might actually get a glimpse at his own business projects in development. Right now, his interest is best represented in our group American Soccer in the discussion The Quickening. However, you can also chat with him Fridays between 7 to 8 p.m. pacific in our prime time featured chat event The Loop. If you miss the party, no worries...in our group Area Light Home we do a weekly weekend kickoff/ update to cover member activity and site news called Friday Spark! You will be invited to the group upon joining. It's that kind of quality service and innovation we hope you will come to enjoy on Area Light.
