Hello Jen,
First I wanted to thank you for all the awesome tips and help you give so kindly to all. I have a question, and I would appreciate your feedback and advise on this.  We were thinking on making our network private, but not "out" of the net, meaning, I would like to take off the sign up button (icon/word) out of our network,  and just allowing people to get in by invitation of friends. The reason is  we do have a big network and it is demanding a huge amount of energy and time from all the managers and it is seriously deflecting us from  active and  positive interactions. Is there a way we can do this? I would appreciate your thoughts on this,
 Blessings Liane  with HH

Thank you for your kind words.

You got me on that one. Unless you use the built-in features for privacy:

Select the privacy options you want for your Ning Network.
Public
Select Public to make your Ning Network visible to everyone. Anyone can sign up to become a member. What can visitors see?
o Everything
o Just the Main Page

Private
Select Private to make your Ning Network visible to members only. Who can sign up to become a member?
o Anyone
o Only Invited People

I think it's more hacking than I would want to try.

Because, if you just hide the sign-up box to non-members, I think there would be too many checks to make, to insure the invited member can in fact sign-up, if that makes sense.

Just my take on it, someone else may have different thoughts on it.

Have a nice Sunday,
Jen
