If you are using just the basic Ning site, you will find that the width of the columns on the main page does not work for members' pages....the center column ends up overlapping the right side. If you put these codes in the main page, you can adjust the size of your columns to suit your needs.

#xg_layout_column_1{
background-color: transparent;
background-image:url(URL);
background-repeat:repeat;
margin-bottom:0em;
border:0px outset #000000;
width:170px;
}
.xg_1col .xg_module_head {
background-color:transparent;
background-image:url();
background-repeat:repeat;
margin-bottom:0em;
border:0px dashed #000000;
height: 50px;
}
#xg_layout_column_2{
width:540px;
margin-left:1.5em;
}

As you can see, you can add different images also. Just pop this code in your advanced section, near the bottom so you can find it again. :)

This is great code! A little caution: Please be aware, when you use this type customization, the display of your built-in Ning features like videos, photos, members, etc... can be affected - - but only in relation to layout. To give an example: if you have the video module in 2nd column, and you make the width of the 2nd column less than the default width, it will not be able to display the video icons in the grid, as it normally does.

My advice: use on test site first, then implement. HOWEVER, AND I WANT TO BE CLEAR ON THIS. I am not discouraging the use of this code. This is a great way to change the look of your site. And, I thank Rainbow Construction for adding it.
Best Regards,
Jen
