The reason for the 140 character limit, is to match what's become the Twitter standard - - and this enables your status updates to fit on Twitter, too. I thought there was a way to change it. But, I looked all over the dashboard and couldn't find it. If I hear that it's possible, I'll let you know. But thinking now, it's not.
