Many NC's speculated that this would happen and alas, the time has come. Check out GLAM MEDIA TO ACQUIRE NING, THE LEADING PLATFORM FOR CREATING SOCIA... to see what I'm talking about.

I visited the Glam Media website and I am left wondering what this really means for us NC's. According to Jason Rosenthal, "We will continue to provide you with the most powerful platform to create, grow, and manage passionate online communities. Ning will continue as a separate division within Glam. No immediate changes to the team, the product, or the business are planned as a result of this, and we’ll continue on our path of releasing new innovative features to make your Ning sites more successful."

For some reason, I'm a little apprehensive about being excited - how about you??

I get paid thousands a month from Glam... but it's geared toward women so i don't know why they want ning. No offense...
Agree. Great to hear from you!
CEO Jason Rosenthal did make an announcement several hours earlier on Creators.
Yeah, I read it all, was just a few hours late seeing it. I actually read this discussion first.
Wow, all I can say is here we go again!
I think this could be the best news since I first landed on ning.com. Give it time. My initial assessment is, this could be the best opportunity yet for real monetization of a Ning Network.
Oh Boy...I don't know what to say, I hope they don;t raise the prices yet again...with Ning never a dull moment!
No surprise to me...In business, when a new owner comes on board, there are ALWAYS changes...And not alway to the benefit of the customer. The next few months will tell. I pay for a service and expect to get that which is promised. I'm watching developments closely
Since Ning is being paid in preferred stock, it has to be assumed that this is a move to an offering of common stock and a way to drive up the prices on the market. I assumed several months ago that Ning no longer cared about its long time customers and was concerned about their looks as a valuable acquisition and said so. I still feel that way. I am down to two sites on Ning. The rest of our site inventory has been moved to private servers and Wordpress installations. I DO feel that there will be no short term effect on network creators...but long term...I would expect some changes. It will depend on the value of their stock, I think.
hopefully they'll clear out Eric and the rest of the Creators gestapo.... just because someone disagrees or dislikes Eric or one of his cronies they are booted from Creators...? Seems a little radical to me.... I lost confidence in NING years ago, I expect it to fail because they behave so badly towards those who pay the bills....
I see I'm not the only one thinking that LOL. All of us who got on his bad side have now moved here. You notice we're not causing problems here... Because WE are not the problems. I just stay to myself... I used to help everyone but can't afford to anymore over there.

Nice to see everyone tonight.

=)
