I want to create a sub-tab under my Member tab that lists members according to specific advanced search criteria. For example, all members who answered a specific profile question, "yes" would be listed on that tab. Is the way to do that to perform and advanced search and then use the URL address for the result as the page address for the sub-tab?

Yes, Create a new tab and used it as a subtab. Get the URL and you can do it!
Thank you. Now if I can only figure out why when I search on the selected criteria - a "Yes" answer to a searchable "Yes" or "No" profile question, it returns zero member matches, even though there are several with "yes" answers.
Hi David,
I just tested the Advanced Search on the field I believe you are referring to:
Are you a Participating Nonprofit with 10Beyond?
This should work. I tested a drop down on JenSocial, and it works fine. If it worked, you would of course use the Search Results URL. My guess is, one of 2 things is happening here:
1. A bug on your site, needs reindexing. And you will need to submit a support ticket to Ning.
2. Or, any chance you have a space before or after the answers?
I believe it's #1. And I really don't know why this would ever occur. But, I've seen the issue several times.

Best Regards,
Jen
Thanks Jen. I was hoping I had added a space, but that wasn't it so I suppose I'll have to get Ning to reindex the site. - DR
Hi David,
I can't remember if Ning has ever come out and stated, "Your site needs to be reindexed." They may have just hinted at such. But, I'm fairly confident this is the issue, or something very similar.
Best,
Jen
Thanks Jen. In the meantime, would you know how to create a sortable table in html? I'm going to look on the W3Schools website first, but if you know how to do it, thanks in advance.
I would, but only with SQL and a good deal of coding. So, no quick answer on this one for sure. I noticed you had a sortable table using Excel export. That is very cool. I've heard that Google Docs is a good tool for this sort of thing, but no time to try it out yet. Zoho could be good, but I remember finding all kinds of issues with that route.
Best of luck,
Jen
Thanks Jen. The original search issue seems to have cleared up. Once it did, I copied the source code for the resulting URL to a new page and then did major surgery on the code, removing most of the unnecessary divs and adding the google search code that I have on my current Search and Donate page. Now it will properly show all members who answer "Yes" to the criteria question and also retains the option to search on other variables. I've still got a little work to do on it, but you can see my first stab at it here. I've now got to go in and manually add about 50 existing nonprofits as members. - David
Sorry - I think the link is broken since I have the page hidden. I'll post it when or if I decide to use it. The issue with Ning blocking the addition of certain scripts for non-administrator members may convince me to stay with the excel export table for now.
I look forward to seeing your handy-work. Awesome site you have, btw.
;-)
