Seek to discover your true passion and understand why you are in business for yourself!

What is it that brings you joy and happiness? What makes you feel good? What brings a smile to your face? What experiences satisfy you? Running a business can be difficult. When you have a business that supports your passion, it makes it easier to succeed. Finding your passion and turning it into a profitable enterprise is the key to success.

As a former naval officer, I didn't want to wait twenty years to become commanding officer. I wanted to become the captain of my ship now. Going into business for myself was the answer for me.

Also, I had other reasons for becoming an entrepreneur. I wanted to be a role model for my young daughters and my community! It was important for me to demonstrate to my daughters that they could control their own destiny.

People need to know that you can become a business owner and entrepreneur and not just an employee. I saw how my father and mother worked long hours, but, never reaped any personal wealth or financial security for their efforts. They were trapped in jobs that took them away from families.

I wanted more personal satisfaction, control, flexibility and opportunity to become more financially successful! I could not accomplish it by working for someone else!

Action:

What is your personal story? Why do you REALLY want to go in business? Go deep. Dig deep. Think about it. Spend some time on this question. If you don't get the response that you like, you need to work on it. I wanted to go in business for myself, so I could be a role model for my young daughters and my community! I wanted more personal satisfaction, control, flexibility and opportunity to become more financially successful! I could not accomplish it by working for someone else!
