Building New Worlds , the network, actually started out from a simple shopping trip to see the new halloween decorations that were out in 2002. While I was checking out all the cool new things for that year I found these amazing little buildings for halloween and right away had to have some of them. Three of them ended up in my shopping cart along with a couple of accessory pieces. I went home and set them on my entertainment center. Over the next year or so I added a couple of pieces. Then one day it hit me that I should Google these buildings to see what they were really about. That was when I discovered a whole lot of people really liked these things and they even made some pretty cool set ups with the buildings. Most of the ones that were really cool were all from other countries though. The US did not have that many people who seemed to know how to landscape things right and at that time some of the ideas I was getting seems to be good but I had some new ideas that would rock (Maybe?) So I joined one of the message boards and started working on my first landscape for a village. By this time I had a pretty good collection going so I had some work ahead of me but I did it. Not only did I do it but I entered my village that year in their contect and won! That first village got a lot of attention from people and questions started coming in about how I did some of the things I did with it. So I started talking about what I was doing and how I did some of the things I did. Next thing I know others where doing some of the same things.
Over the next year I studied more and more of the villages people had done and started working on the next village. Of course I was also planning on buying more village pieces that year which I did. My collection was growing rather fast. Again that year I placed in the village contest.
As things progressed with my village work I branched out and started my own message board and people started to join. It took some work to get the word out about the board but I was all for the effort. I had what they called the "village bug". The board I was using though had some issues and I started looking around and that is when I found Ning. At first I was not sure if a network would go over with village collectors but I have learned never stop something just based on doubt. I would have never started collecting villages if I would have listened to reason at that time anyway. Back then I started out with no idea of what to do with them after all. So there I was with a network and a hand full of villagers with some pictures and information on doing some cool things with villages. That was just over a year ago and now we have grown to over 350 members strong. Building New Worlds has members from many countries over the world who collect many different villages. Our information has been called the best on line source for village collectors by some and we are gaining new ideas and new information all the time.
With the tools that Ning offers village collectors are sharing their villages and information on line more freely than every before. Today Building New Worlds not only has the Network here on Ning but we also offer Spooky Town (the halloween village) on an online store. I thought since this was the village that started it all of me that I would start the store out with just that line and expand lated just like I did my own collection. So six years after that fateful first shopping day that I found Lemax villages, I celebrate by joining this network and welcoming all village collectors to come join us. We invite you to share your villages and grow with us.
