Hi Jen,

Papillon Casse and I wish to thank you for your help. Therefore, as a token of our appreciation we would like to give this code to you that should help many where headers get in the way of members page.

1. Turn off header in appearance
2. Up load header in a blog or file
3. Add the following code to your analytic file
4. Add the link to the var headerImageurl

You can adjust what you wish to trap for also I left my image here so they can test it.
Again thank you so much

Ralphy

Nice coding! Thank you very much for this contribution!
Best Regards,
Jen
I didn't test the code, but thought it did the following:
Turns off the regular Header (loaded via Manage/Appearance/All Options/Header), and replaces with the inserted Header (within this special script) for the following areas of a Ning Network:
Profiles
Blogs
Groups

And, since all 3 cases are unique, any of them can be removed from the script.

This would be good if you wanted to show a different header on the home page than on the profile pages. I do get this request from time to time.

If I've misunderstood what the script does, hopefully Ralphy will clear it up.

Best,
Jen

P.S. I'll test it out tonight.
Hi Jen, yes you are right that is exactly what it does and also lets the group area be customized without the sites header. This little test routine could be a valuable asset because it can control the areas of the 5 ning jquery (ie above the ning bar, above the header image, below the header image, below the nav bar and the foot. The code would go below the header code so that you wouldn't have to continue to write test routines.

I will go more into more detail later...especially cause someone said their analytic code is jumping around like a jumping bean...smile
Thanks Ralphy. Yeah jumping bean doesn't sound like fun. :-)
Lol, well first I hope you got the header routine to work if not please let me know.

also I tend to leave the scripts open until the end if at all possible because of space but also the time it takes to load each script...also there was this guy named Boolean who said, if you do the same thing twice you are wasting time...lol My hero..lol

Anyway, if we can help please let us know.
I tried the code for the profile pages, but it did not work......here is the code I added:
script type.doc Disregard rest of the info in that document. I was using it as "scratch paper." =)
Bill I'm really sorry, but I didn't know that saving the file as a notepad text would change the " " (quotes) to a different as ansi code. This was hell to figure out...lol The Quotes looked normal...and also you need to add the variable for blog. That variable makes sure under profile that your not under blogs...I would think you would want the header on the blog page but not on the profile page. Profile appears under both under member page and under blogs. Anyway the code is fixed just plug and play.

Ralphy--thanks for your help and patience. The code works now, except opposite of how I would like. It has my banner on profile pages, and your banner on every other page. I would like my banner to appear on every page and then an alternate, or if possible no banner, on profile pages.
no problem Bill, I might need to see your Analytic for your banner...you need to replace my banner with yours. Just put your banner in place of mine.

var HeaderImageurl ="http://api.ning.com/files/H-2hVYpLtQx697ATS9LTtot7Y4tlOkDaggG*h3bgFpFVUhgiiHaD6KDeo7ethzujOgX8*cJ4Oe6rEnJk5HQfIrLwJOukqxYS/newmebanner1re.png";

replace http inside the quote with your header.

next go to appearance, all options and turn off the header to say none. Save, then you should be good to go.

the code is written to only display the header on pages that don't say profile unless on blog page.
Hi Bill,

Did you get it to work? I saw you joined Minds-eye.ning.com then later left...Sorry I didn't see you in time. Did you get the headers to do what you wanted? Ralphy
Ralphy, I joined your site to check and see how it worked on yours. I left cause I didn't wanna clutter up your membership. You have it working on your site how I would like it, but I still have the header appearing on profile pages. Here is what I have:
