Scroll Bar for Latest Activity on Home Page / Profile Pages

Scrollable Latest Activity / Scroll Through Latest Activity On Home Page / Profile Pages

I'm not too much into the scrolling comments walls, and such. But this particular little tweak, I like a lot. It will add a vertical scroll bar to your Latest Activity module on the home page. If you only have 4 postings selected, the bar may not show up with 500 height. You can adjust the height to suit your preference.

Add this CSS to Manage/Appearance/Advanced CSS, at bottom.

/* Scroll Bar for Latest Activity */
.xg_widget_main .xg_module_activity .xg_module_body {height: 500px;overflow : auto;position:relative;}

To scroll your Latest Activity on Member Profiles too, just remove the main page class, like this:
.xg_module_activity .xg_module_body {height: 500px;overflow : auto;position:relative;}

Good question. Unfortunately, if you remove the .xg_widget_main from the CSS, it will add the scroll to all pages, and effect all pages - - which includes the member profile pages.

Jen is there anyway possible to load more then just 20 items on the activity wall?

Hi Julie,

There might possibly be a way by using javascript and rewriting the app. My guess is, if anyone knows this answer, it would be TJ of http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/

I've not seen it done, yet.

Never mind. I got it to work on the new Design Studio when I finally put it in the right place!! LOL I'd placed it in the custom code box instead of the advanced appearance box. Sorry about being a ding bat! I'm glad it meshes with the new, because scrolling activity is a MUST on lots of networks.

The scroll-bar CSS coding also works with the New Design Studio. We added it to the CSS box provided and it works fine >> HERE

Writer Chick and IN CHRIST Net,

I really appreciate this feedback. Last week was a week of putting out fires, and I've been pretty "up in the air" about the possibilities that old tips would not work. It's really looking better. I'm still trying to get a handle on what all is different with the CSS, and especially style id and class names. Thanks again!

Well one of your tips needs some modifying. The scrolling marquee one. The background now covers the two icons on the Ning bar (the little wrench, and the design studio) located in the left hand corner. Could we perhaps change the color to transparent to take care of that?

I have found that although these icons are covered by the scrolling marquee that they are still clickable, even if not visible.
