When a new member joins your Ning Network, they will see the new Ning Welcome Box. If you don't want the new Welcome Message Box/Banner to show, go to Manage/Appearance/Advanced and add this code:

#welcome {
display:none !important;
}

Be sure to click on SAVE.

I've been meaning to add this tip for a while. But, I noticed where another NC added it somewhere, and wanted to give it some time. But, absolutely something I had to add. I've been telling members who ask, via emails.
Glad you like it,
Jen

I kinda like it too. But, I can see where some networks wouldn't want it.

Hi Charles,
That is confusing. I can only say, I tested this method a month ago, and it worked fine.
#welcome {
display:none !important;
}

Best,
Jen

#welcome {
display:none !important;
}

What about those codes found on developer.ning? Which one is correct???

xg_welcome_box {
display:none;
}

#welcome.welcome-nc {
display:none;
}

To make it even worse, there's a 3rd one on Ning dev tutorial. lol. It's a real mess :(

#xg_body .xg_colgroup div.create-success {
display:none;
}
Hi Traverler777,
I was almost sure I added a tip for this. But I've been looking and can't find it.

I haven't tried this since the last several platform updates. It should still work.

  • Go to your Language Editor.
  • Select Your Language, and click on Edit.
  • In left Search box, search for "Here are a few things you can do right now" - - no quotes.
  • Add your message here. You can test how your message looks, by creating a new member account.

Here's ours for an example. This is exactly what I have in the text box:

<span style="font-size:14px;">Thank you for adding your Ning Network to the Ning Directory. For your best advertising results on the Ning Directory, please follow the Quick Start steps from your profile page. Let's get your Ning Network on the map! Here are a few other things you can do right now…</span>

Advice:
Don't make your message very long. It won't fit correctly.

Hope that helps,
Jen
