Although we already have our Ning Photo Slideshows for our Ning Networks, I love the extra "punch" that a Cooliris Slideshow offers. And the really nice thing about this slideshow, you can display photos based on a search word. I selected the West Highland Terrier, by using the search word "Westie". I have prepared this slideshow to fit perfectly in a Ning Text Box. It is 510 pixels wide. You can try widths from 468-525, depending on your preference. All you have to do: change the search word in 2 places. Do be sure to change it for both instances. THE PHOTOS ARE BEING PULLED FROM FLICKR.COM, BASED ON SEARCH WORD. See example below. See code below the example.

Cooliris Slideshow Code using the search word "Westie".

TIP: If you have a site that is kid friendly, be sure to scroll through the images and make sure they fit your requirements.

Thunder-X,
I'm not sure about hypens. When I wanted to show German Shepherds on my pet site, I just used both words with the space, and it worked beautifully. It really depends on how the photo owners entered their tags.

I do think you can use your own flickr account. I'll go back to cooliris and take a look. I thought their instructions were a bit convoluted and difficult. That's why I added the code here, instead of sending members to their site. If you want to give it a go, it's at:
http://developer.cooliris.com/?p=embed/quickstart
Also, I tried for a while to get it working with our photos on a ning site. I did not succeed. You're supposed to have an XML file in the root of your network. I even did that, and no go. I know Evil of Widgetlaboratory had it working, and I believe Vince did too. Oh well, I still love being able to simply change 2 instances of 1 search word, and showing many photos based on search. It's really great for my pet site. It's a quick way to add fresh content to any themed site. I hop in, change German Shepherd to Calico Cat, and done. ;-)
Best,
Jen

This is great Jen! Thankx. Would be nice to be able to link to your own flickr account though. One question: If I wanted to include a hyphenated term in the Search, how would I do that, or can I? For instance, bluewhales, blue whales, blue-whales, or blue_whales?
Update:
Thunder-X,
I think this link is your best bet, on using your own flickr account. I don't have one, so hard for me to test.

SETTING COOLIRIS TO DISPLAY PHOTOS FROM YOUR FLICKR ACCOUNT:
The way I read it, Just change the 2 instances of:

value="feed=api://www.flickr.com/?search=westie"

WITH THE FOLLOWING CODE, USING YOUR USER NAME.

value="feed=api://www.flickr.com/?user=krispyzelda"

Let me know if this works, Thunder. And, and I'll add these instructions to the main part of tip box.

Best,
Jen
It works, Jen. I substituted my user name like you showed and it works fine!
