How To Automatically Feed Your Ning Blog or Ning Latest Activity to Your Twitter Account

One of our members (BeatTheBook.net) asked how I was automatically updating Twitter with our Latest Activity. Great question, and great answer.

TwitterFeed.com is a great service, which automatically updates your Twitter account with your submitted RSS Feed!

It's been a great way to get the word out about the Ning Directory and your Ning Networks. I often see new members who say they found us through Twitter. I have us set up under 2 accounts. One for our Latest Activity, and the other for THE LIST. We are always Twittering our activity to the world. I also see a lot of visitors who arrive on the Ning Directory from Twitter!

Go to TwitterFeed.com and setup an account. You will need to have this information ready:
1. Your Twitter Account Name
2. Your RSS Feed for whichever RSS you want to feed to Twitter.

Read the directions thoroughly. I think you will find it to be quite easy.

Hi Jen:

Similar question to that of the RSS for ning activity above, which I have saved for future reference, but how and where do I find the rss for my ning blog & ning discussion/forum? It use to give you the link before but as you know, it doesn't anymore. I had my PBG discussion RSS on my toolbar but it's no longer showing :/....don't know what happened. ~Nar

I think it's because your site is private beyond the home page. Did you just change this?

No, Jen... it's always been private and still is. I use to have the discussion on the rss before...weird but so according to what your saying. The blog roll and activity is still showing but not the discussion...

I just never know where to go to find the RSS for something because it doesn't give you the links anymore (unless I save the code). Does Ning provide a way to set some pages public? Or is it either public or private...and only the main page shows for private?

I'm surprised, because I thought RSS wasn't available on private sites. Maybe it'll hit me later of why I'm confused. I really thought RSS was for public only.

Here are the links on Ning's help pages. Notice though, it specifically says "public".

RSS Feed Links

Privacy: It's your last statement: either public or private, or private with home page accessible. Those are currently the only options.

Hey Jen,

Thanks for the link. It provided so much more than I expected. Also, it works on private networks. But the only thing I had to change to get it to work was my custom domain name of http://predestinedbygod.com to my original .ning.com name. I hope I explained it properly.

This is good to know. Thank you for sharing. But, I must admit, still confused as to why the feed would show for a private site, lol. I'm a little bull-headed, don't you think?! LOL!

You've got me on that one Queen of Ning=) ... but yes, ma'am your determination to figure things out deserves an Oscar! I'm guessing the feed could be for those who are members of the network to follow, ya' think???? LOL
