Wibiya, the Social Media Toolbar Developer has added a new Social Media Chat Room to their already awesome toolbar. I love this little Chat Room. Finally, something that is sweet and simple, classic look and offers a robust Social Sign-In. You can select Social Media Sign-In options for:
Twitter, Facebook Connect, Yahoo, and MySpace.

It's kind of like adding a Universal Sign-in for a Chat Room - - easy, quick and painless.

Your site Visitors and Members can sign-in once, and choose to stay signed-in, be invisible or visible. They can click on an active Chat Room icon and start a private Chat session, or chat with all active Chatters.

Here's What Wibiya Tells Us About the New Social Chat:
The new Live Social Chat web application creates a direct connection with the most popular online social networks of your choice. This new application will automatically identify the networks you are currently using and allow your users to join a public chat and initiate multiple private chat sessions with any connected user on your website simply by clicking on the user's image..

This unique social layer will enable users to invite friends to chat, both publicly and privately, with multiple chat rooms available simultaneously. They will also be able to view information about each user by hovering over user images, control availability settings, see the exact time a message was sent and much more.

The application is completely dynamic which means that once a user loads a new page it will automatically include all of his open chat sessions.

The Live Social Chat web application gives you complete moderation control over the chat rooms directly from within your website. Control what messages go through your site and which users are allowed to stay connected.

How to Use Live Chat:

To connect with the Live Chat, a user chooses a network that he wishes to connect with. He can connect via several networks and change between them, but he can only chat using one. Unless chosen otherwise, facebook will be your automatic chat connection.

The user can receive an invitation either to a public chat room or a private chat session. Clicking on 'accept' initiates the chat.

Once the user entered the public chat room he will see a list of 'active users' and 'available users' on the panel to his right. 'Active users' are already chatting in the public chat room. 'Available users'
are users who are available to chat on the entire website. To invite users to a public or private chat, the user clicks on the name of another user in the right panel and chooses one of the two options. An invitation will be sent to this user and once he or she accepts you the chat session will start.

Each user can control his own availability settings in two ways:
  • At the top of the right panel, next to the green light icon, choose to be either 'available' or 'invisible'
  • On the toolbar itself, you will notice the same green light icon.

Choosing an 'invisible' status will make the user invisible to other users.

To view user information, hover over their images. An information bubble will appear with the user's details according to the network he is connected through.

Notice that each message has a time stamp on it, telling you exactly when this message was sent. This will help you keep track of the most recent messages.

You may minimize chats and they will remain available on your toolbar.

Glad you like it, and that it's working well for you. I still wish they would add an IM for Ning sites. But, they serve so many platforms now, I doubt that will happen.

Talk to you next time,
Jen
hmmm, not good. Thanks for letting us know about this Robert. When I can, I'll try to report this issue to Wibiya, if you haven't yet.
:-)
Best,
Jen
