What Are You Doing To Help Save and Clean Mother Earth?

Please share your ideas and practices with us, on how you help in saving and cleaning Mother Earth. You may be surprised how much your suggestions could help others.

In honor of Earth Day 2009, we will mark the beginning of The Green Generation Campaign (http://www.earthday.net/greengeneration) which will also be the focus of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in 2010, by featuring ten ‘Eco-Friendly focused’ Ning Networks. If your Ning Network has a focus on Eco-Friendliness, Going Green, or an Environmentalist type site, send an email to Jen. (via Ning Messaging Center)

Submissions Closed For Featured Eco-Friendly Networks. See Featured Networks, below.

Yep, pretty extreme, LOL. Never would have crossed my mind. I truly admire your acute awareness. I want to get much better in my day-to-day habits. This idea could make a huge difference if more people planned this type of burial. I LIKE it very much.

Funny you mention "Designer Coffee". I was just that minute thinking of what members may think of the "Buy Jen a cup of Starbucks"! I hope the ones who don't approve, forgive me. I don't think I could give up my Starbucks. I do buy the Organic Beans and Fair Trade, and Starbucks does claim to try.

Oh, and I do take my mug in, whenever possible - - which is 99% of the time.

Crazy thing is... we're not one of those crazy uber-green families. I love "designer" coffee, we smoke, we have lots of kids (5)... we just started to do a few things and 'think' a little greener, and things just follow suit.
You can recycle your old computer equipment through
Computers for Charity. Computers for Charity is a 501 c3 non profit that I started that refurbishes computers and finds them a new home with disadvantaged families or other charities. You can get a tax deduction for donating to our organization. We prefer Pentium II and up computers, especially laptops and notebooks, as these are in the highest demand. Older and even non-functional equipment can still yield valuable parts to repair other computers. You'll feel great about keeping these systems out of the e-waste landfills while helping families in need! In 2007 Americans junked nearly 3 million tons of electronic equipment. Computers contain toxins from lead, cadmium, mercury, and other hazardous materials that leak into our environment if not properly disposed of! All equipment that is not usable is broken down, sorted and recycled safely through a proper recycling destination facility.
Computers for Charity advocates the environmentally safe disposal of all electronic equipment that cannot be reused. visit us on the
web or contact computer.support.guru@gmail.com

l am planting more trees and making sure trash is being recycled. l am also uncluttering my home. If l do not need it or have not use it for a long time, l am giving these things away. l check to see if the things l buy are green approved.
What a great question! I definitely do two things daily - drink filtered water in my plastic jug instead of using one of the 70 million disposable water bottles used daily! and use Shaklee's non-toxic earth friendly products - they are the most responsible company I have ever met - they do everything to offset carbon emissions and even have annual conferences! They even plant 5 trees to offset carbon emissions when they send out an initial package to new members :)

My NIng community is focused on green and earth friendly products (on my end and some of my other earth conscious friends) as well as living your "best life possible". I would love to be included in this awesome group of communities if chosen - thanks for thinking of mother earth! :)

Hi Jan,
I am doing big stuff that goes way beyond just the day. Through http://DiscoveryFuel.com, we have 3 ning communities. One is established http://ChangingNormal.com and 2 are emerging: http://EntrepreneursForABetterWorld.ning.com and http://YoungInventorsSociety.ning.com All three sites have their own themes, but together they share the common idea of using principles of sustainability as a catalyst for creating next generation innovation.

What do you think?
Vic
Hi Vic/Discovery Fuel!
I think your efforts are triple awesome - - truly! And, I think e-cycling and bestlifepossible are great too! Why aren't you all sending me emails for our 10 eco-friendly featured sites?! I have only received 3 so far, 7 spots left. If you don't know what I'm referring to, see top of this Discussion. ;-)

Best to you all and thank you for all of the EXCELLENT information and work you contribute in helping clean and save our wonderful Planet!
Jen

1-Can I get added to the 2 week list that you've been promoting?
2-Also, I don't see the 10 eco-friendly sites you mention? Can I get one or more of my ning sites added to this list?
Vic
It's all the same list. We will feature 10 eco-friendly sites, starting on Earth Day April 22, 2009, for 2 weeks. Please send me an email, with a statement you would like to make on the topic. I will add 2 of yours. Please include both Ning Network Names, Links, and a statement for each.
Thanks,
Jen

I did 2 days ago. What's your direct email? :)
That's not good. I sent you a direct message via Ning Messaging. Let's see how it goes.
Thanks,
Jen
