I have to vent.  (If you want to delete my rant, Jen, you can. I won't get mad.)

When I first got my own network, I didn't know ANYTHING. I didn't even know what HTML was. The Creator's Forum was a godsend for me.  Everyone was friendly back then. Okay, to be honest, even back then there were a few unpleasant people, but Eric quickly put them in their place, and if they didn't straighten their act up, he shipped them out. Some will say unfairly, but I'm not going to get into any arguments about that in this thread.

The place has changed drastically and I can barely tolerate being there anymore. No one is keeping order anymore, it seems. It's a free for all in there. Eric was a much more visible presence, and that presence is gone now. Not sure what is going on, whether they don't have the staff to pay attention to the forum, but the frustration level is getting high. Ning is hardly addressing any issues on there.  Their absence is very NOTABLE, especially to someone who was around 3 years ago. I can tell the difference.

Until they bring some order to that forum, I'm out of there. I'm sick to death of the whiny posts and the negativity and the trolling.

I'm going to say it...out loud.  I LOVE 3.0!!

Yes, it has missing features, DUH.  Yes, it's still in beta. DUH. No, it isn't 2.0. DUH!  But I LOVE it anyway, and I think it's going to be an incredible platform once it's finished and they begin to add the frills to it.  But apparently you can't say anything positive about it or defend Ning in any way or you get attacked for being a green minion or an ass kisser.

*sigh*

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi all,

Diane, you have every right to rant and be upset over things.  We all have our views and we should be able to state them.  I am not out to argue here about anything or go into blow by blow issues on this long thread, but as a member of this site in good standing for several years,  I do want to correct what I think is being unfairly assumed about me here.

In spite of what some of you are theorizing, I did not save copies of Diane's deleted post.  (FireTech, you'd have lost your money on that wager).   Believe it or not, I honestly don't bother spending my time and energy doing such tedious things.  Diane, for what it's worth (admittedly, probably not much), I did not actually quote your deleted post, rather I stated my general recollection of a part of what you had posted.  I didn't copy or save any of your posts at all, and I was not really prepared for all the heated responses, or for the subsequent responses to the responses.  I'm truly sorry the whole thing got blown up into a big thing.  I meant nothing evil or creepy.

Vampyre- to set the record straight, I don't resent Diane for being 'high above me' and me being 'nothing'.  Nobody is higher above, and nobody is nothing.  I am a kind and joyful person, I have a happy and fulfilling life, and I'm sure all of us would get along just fine in real life if you knew me.  I'm sure Diane is a great person too, even if we don't agree on everything.  Diane, I read on your Ning superstar interview that you do volunteer work in your community's food pantry/food bank...well you and I have that in common.  I was very happy you were good enough to accept my friend request after Jen's thread a few days ago.  It said a lot about you.

I'm always happy to respond directly or to talk to anyone who asks me.  Do you want to know anything at all about something I've done, what i've posted, or what I think?- hey, just ask me!   :)    As you all likely know already, I have strong opinions on things I care a lot about (um, don't most of us?), but I leave my door open and am not into holding grudges.

Honestly, thanks for listening, and sorry to 'bust in' like this...but I wanted to correct some assumptions being built up about me.

Kind wishes to all of you.

Strumelia

I am so over caring about this...

Then don't reply, state your last peace and move on.

Least she came over to straighten things out, and this post is still trending on the site.

I think she did a good job.

Let's remember, we always don't know why someone or something seems a certain way until we ASK.

Remember, we have all been there! Support is more than venting and crying irl.

Sometimes its the nice things we do, like accepting a friend request that makes things so much better.

Best of luck to everyone who was involved with this argument there! Take the time to grow from the experience, and if you don't like the new creators, stump ning in the back and make your own version of creators. I am sure Jen wouldn't mind!

I already have stated my last piece. I'm so over it. So, everyone else can drop it now.

Why should we have to drop it because it is over? It's still trending.

Perhaps new ways to deal with the issue (of these things) or one's like it in the future (will come out of this thread). See, it just seems a bit insecure from a NC's and a blogger's perspective, or an admin/editor's perspective. If this is way you acted towards them when they re-posted your deleted comments (how catty) then I can see why they were re-posted.

You forced yourself to be taken out of context. That is why the did it.

Also, if you want it "dropped" you created the post, you will or jen or another admin will have to delete or lock the thread. Social media can haunt you, but why do we let it?

You got to learn to let things go. Try not to blog or post vents even if you know you can rant about these things, or do it in a private area where only your crew can see and help you, apparently roll out of the dirt about it. It's in an open forum. I am not a shy person, and will not back down if I think there is some lesson to be learned from the suffering. You apparently wanted attention, you got it. Lots of times its not the attention we think we deserve. I got it last week in an oxwall support forum, because some guys spam plugin makes the entire installation go blank when you upload it. You have to go into the ow_plugins folder by the file manager or backend and delete it and reload your your site.

Now I prefer Wordpress/Buddypress just do to the free themes/features and plugins - its just finding the right ones.

Social media would be nothing without RSS features and Future Oxwall releases should have this. They have even delayed their mobile release by 5 months recently but kept up with other plugins, by sending out the fixes to various items.

For wordpress, I made my entire site mobile yesterday just by installing one of the plugins via the jetpack plugins from wordpress.com. How easy!

However, I was completely taken out of context as well, and Oxwall locked the thread and I deleted it. I don't like being taken out of context either, 3 or 4 goons had jammed the thread with "she's using spam block to not let me be a member" and I was, due to where one guy's ip was locating from, in westminster abbey lol which I highly doubt. I had banned two members, who were also at the oxwall forum, and that is why yesterday I decided to work more with buddypress/wordpress. I spent almost 80 bucks through the oxwall store last month (I had it in my budget to be able to do that) and with wordpress the same thing was free.

Plus they have better themes. I am not yelling at you, but I am sure you feel attacked. I am sorry. I know about social defense, and we always have to be on guard. I learned if it's that hard to fit in somewhere, I don't need too. Shoot, I have never posted on Jen's site before until just recently. ;)

I am only a member of two nings anymore, paganspace.net and jensocial.com, I like social media and my klout score is known for it (it's one of my subjects) so I am hoping it will track more than my facebook, because fakebook is gay lately.

:-) Feel free to venture to my social buddies site if it interests you - I will have to invite you by email if you like. http://socialbuddies.paganjourneys.net/members/admin/.

That's why i replied too. There is a crowd that posted on ning community for years. There is nothing wrong with that, everyone wants to fit in at their support forums, its networking and meeting friends too.

Now with the social changes to 3.0, which is a nice project and I wish ning luck, it's not something I am going to pay for, i like buddypress. But the social distortion is breaking down and the new people versus the old people, they can't "have lunch in the secret room anymore" so to speak, kinda like the secret circle book. (sorry if you don't know what i mean) and the New people and the old people are clashing. That's why I replied. It sounds to me that the old folks of ning, are blowing up over the new ways ning is being ran. If you like 3.0 accept it's coming with quotes of deleted posts and it's chiding to see anyone post "they posted my deleted comments" in a huff, it's amusing.

It's internet jargon, you can post a 146 snippet, like twitter, for a quote, on any comment field on ning, period. IF it was a good review of something you did, would you care? No, probably not, but when she reposted, she took you out of context, and you did not like that.

You can also under internet publishing law, post a 246 snippet of code, post, reply etc, on ning to quote someone, as long as the post still exists, HOWEVER if you did delete them like You stated, then she or anyone else should have re-posted all off them, or all of it. Sounds like she's a new person to editing drafts and things to me.

I think Ning probably should remove her rights as an admin, I don't chat there for the same reason, outside the twitter, klout and lists section that JFarrow created, and I haven't posted on ning creators in almost a year.

I don't have a problem with You, WriterChick or Jen or Strumelia (nice name btw) I did go over and see the post and reminded me when I first started out on CoolChat/aristosoft and was misrepresented in a chat room. However, we didn't have forums or websites or social sites then to fume on, we had to fume in the chat room publically or in our diary. lol Oh god those days were nutso!

wow....

Well, you guys can continue on posting paragraph upon paragraph of this stuff, but I started the initial conversation, and I am now....officially....SO OVER IT!  I said my piece, and Jen was gracious enough to let me rant.  (Thanks, Jen.)

I have moved on from this issue in a positive direction.  Perhaps you guys should move on, too?

I agree, enough said. I'm closing this discussion.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day,

=)

Jen

Here's a big cyber hug for all!
