"Our goal is to create tools for you that are easier and more efficient to use than WebDAV file upload and editing. The first release of File Manager and the relaxed CSS and JS limits may not address all of the ways you use WebDAV – I’m very interested to hear which use cases aren’t covered. I’m also interested to get your feedback on the v1 File Manager: what would make it a more efficient tool for file uploads and management? Please add comments to the forum post above or reply to this email with your feedback. Longer-term, once we have adequately addressed your file upload needs with new tools, we would like to close off WebDAV access. This would allow us to vastly simplify the file system we maintain for Ning Networks, which would enable us to develop and release features faster, improve processing times for requests from your network, and reduce operations costs. "

Does this means that NING will definetly close webdav for us oldies?

Yes, it does. I am unhappy to say the least. I've already written John. I do know this. They will listen, and do whatever they need to do to help us transition. I honestly don't know how I can, so many tiny files being called across 2 networks. I may have to make some hard decisions; unless they make this new File Manager, a real file manager. We'll see. I have to get my list of uses ready to send back to Ning. I am pretty stressed about it, but trying to keep a good attitude, and take this step by step, in a methodical and sane fashion. LOL.

Best,

Jen

I was unable to reply here at first - I don't know why. I typed in my text below and then it was said - please write something ... crazy

Thanks Jen for your reply. More and more I am getting pissed off with NING and they are loosing the rest of their credit. I thought: okay, I will give NING a third try and will see how this company will be after July 20th.If they do not response to my suggestion in the creator forum and ignoring questions to new feature it makes no sense to work with them. The NING api is at the moment a joke for me - too much expensive and I tried to sign up the new developer network - just with the aim, to learn more about it - but in both times my request was declined. I don' t know if I am getting mad or what's wrong.

Actually I need the webdav for one purpose: to update my sitemap.xml and host some javascript on my own network - the last ones Ican host on my homepage / webspace - but I think that the NING's sitemap feature it a lot of improvements before I would like to use it for my own google sitemap.xml

Hopefully the NING file manage will be a manager. At the moment I can upload files to blog or forum entries and save the URL in a text file.

Have a nice weekend. Happy that I will play in the evening with a friend of Bern, Switzerland - and that I have some other things to do than complaining how customer unfriendly NING in my mind is.

Stay tuned,

Jens
