"Om Namo Narayanaya" is called Ashtakshara Mantra, eight syllable mantra, Ashta - eight, Akshara - syllables, Ashtakshara Mantra of Vishnu. Narayana is Vishnu, comes from Nara - human being, Narayana is the one who dwells in all human beings, in all creatures and is the one who works through all creatures. "Om Namo Narayanaya" is also a peace mantra.
