Dear Ning Directory members,

I have created a ning page dedicated to dance.  We would love anyone who
loves dance or who is passionate about Dance to join and become part of our
online community.

At the centre of this community is the National Dance Centres for Advanced
Learning (National Dance CATs)  There
are nine National Centres for Advanced Training in Dance (National Dance CATs)
across England. 
Their purpose is to discover young people with exceptional talent aged 10-19,
give them the best possible dance training, develop their potential and give
them a springboard into the professional dance world.

National Dance CATS provide world-class specialist dance training as part of a
broad and balanced non-residential education.  At this critical stage in
their development young dancers aged 10-19 undertake professional training
which includes dance classes, choreography, creative practice, healthier dancer
classes and the chance to perform alongside dancers in professional dance
companies.  Professional levels of commitment and behaviour are demanded
of all students.  This is a national scheme, delivered regionally with the
centres offering different strands of dance training:  contemporary, urban,
South Asian and ballet. National Dance CATs are part of the Department for
Children, Schools and Families’ Music and Dance Scheme and are designed to be
inclusive.  Successful applicants receive bursaries, subject to a means
testing process, allowing children from low income families to access free
training.  Emphasis is on preparation for further professional training
and, ultimately, a career in dance, as opposed to recreational dance training.
