As many know, I have a passion for the use of Social Media to connect with others. I feel strongly that the various applications available to us today will change our lives and our world tomorrow. All one has to do is turn on the TV to see how social media has made an impact on how we receive news from other parts of the world – the Iranian election and turmoil is but one example. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Blogs: all tools that allow us to connect, share, learn and grow.

One of the biggest challenges for many however is the fear of technology. So many individuals are not equipped with the skills to feel comfortable using these technologies, or they may not see the full potential of using them. They are afraid, concerned, or unwilling to venture into this new realm alone.

So how does one take the first step?

During 2010 I hope to help many take that first step! I want to provide support and training in an environment where they can “test the waters” without fear of making a mistake. I want to provide tools that will help build the skills they need to become a success when using social media tools. I want to show them by example how to connect.

Let’s Connect Now is a series of hands-on workshops that will be offered, beginning in Huntington WV, which will allow individuals to learn about the various social media technologies in a supportive learning environment. The class size will be kept at a minimum so that personal attention can be provided. Each session will focus on a specific application, providing a knowledge base as to its purpose and successful use. Additional web seminars will also be provided for those who are unable to attend in person.
