I would love to have a link exchange system on my Ning site. I know it helps tremendously with Google ranking as long as the linking sites are relative.
Jen I checked out your link exchange area and opened up one of the "takers" links and viewed the source code. It has "nofollow" tags on every one of their links which defeats the whole purpose of link exchanging.
I have been looking for a way to do this but Ning is persistent with the ant-spamming.
Do you know if Ning will ever give us the option to turn off the nofollow tags?

Love an answer too. Im looking for best ways to up my google ranking, any other ideas?
Hi SurferShot and SQR,fm!
I have been extremely verbal about this with Ning, many times, publicly and privately. I think it should be the Network Creator's option.

The nofollow wasn't in place when the link exchange program was started. I believe with all the new changes and the leaning more towards white label, Ning will eventually give us the option on nofollow.

Keeping our fingers crossed,
Jen
Hi Everyone ,

I think for now , only Ning apps can archive that . Hope some developers out there can do this . lol

Have a wonderful day ,
Elson.
Thanks, but not sure what you're referring to Elson. Ning simply needs to turn off the code that converts all external links to nofollow.
Read about nofollow here:

Or at the least, give Network Creators the option of turning on/off.

Tip: Spammers drop links just to gain the backlinks. Nofollow discourages this activity. Which is great, but not optimal for some of our sites.

Best,
Jen
