Hi everyone,
I'm new here. This is my first post.
I'm having problems with the email system on NING, and i'm having problems getting ANY support from NING regarding this situation.
HISTORY-
When NING first rolled out their new email Daily Digests, I switched over to them thinking that it might be cool not to receive 200 emails a day from my network. When I switched to the Digests, I stopped receiving email altogether! I had an open help ticket for a different email situation, so I mentioned that after I switched that I wasn't receiving any emails. I NEVER got a response from NING (that old help ticket is STILL OPEN and unresolved from Jan 21st 2011), but I did start receiving messages again.
After receiving the Daily Digests for a couple of weeks I decided that I was not able to track discussions and whatnot very well, and wanted to revert back to reading individual notifications. So, I switched back to Instant Notifications... and stopped receiving ANY emails. AGAIN!
I changed the email address associated with my account and immediately started getting messages. What's funny is when I switched from my primary email address, I got a message from my network telling me that I had changed my address. BUT, when I try to change my account email back to my primary address I get NOTHING! I don't even get the email with the link to change it over. I have checked with my ISP and they say that there is not a problem on their end. I should be getting the messages.
Getting any kind of answer from NING is a pain in my tookus. I sent my first help ticket regarding this issue during the 3rd week in February, and my SECOND help ticket a week later. I finally got a response to the second help ticket on March 3rd... Here's the response I got-

From Aaron at NING-
"I'm not aware of any issues switching from digest to instant emails. I saw your other ticket, and it seems like this issue is still occurring. Are any messages at all being sent to you? Your email settings look fine, so I'm wondering if you've tried changing your email temporarily to another email as you may have read in the email troubleshooting guide I put together (http://help.ning.com/?faq=3860). Please keep me posted."

Notice that they saw my first request and chose not to respond! I guess the magical NING fairies were going to handle it. Needless to say, I have updated this guy to NO AVAIL. I GET NOTHING FROM THEM!!!! RAARRRRR!!!

Can anyone here help me???? Anyone??? :)

Probably not. You are doing the right thing communicating with NING through support. However, now that you have Aaron's attention you should stay right on it with him. No success, get back to him within minutes, if you can before they jump on someone else's issue. Their support is not great, but I have yet to find any company that has GREAT support (irony). I had the same problem and did not communicate it. But I discovered that, my server, which is Verizon, were not delivering what they considered automated messages which turned out to be everything from NING, automated or not. I listed them as ok and finally started getting them to my spam box, at least. This may have nothing to do with your problem. Just thought I would recount my problems, also. Many servers DO have ways of filtering out, outright spam, as you probably know, or we would be getting all those "dear heart" messages which have finally ground to a halt with me.

Yeah, I agree with Tom. Truly, I don't think anyone can help with this but Ning. And the Verizon situation and Ning emails, I've seen this happen with gmail as well.

Good luck, and wish we could help.

Hi Carny Town and Jen!
Thank you for your responses!
I sure wish this was something I could fix so I wouldn't have to depend on their help. Customer service is not their strong suit right now. I really hope that changes in the future because everything else about them is pretty awesome.
Thank you both so much again for responding. Have a fabulous week!!! :)
I wanted to let you guys know that I figured it out! I was using Mozilla Firefox, and I think that my problems started when I installed an Add-on to that browser. (Ad blocker) I realized that my Leaderboards weren't working either, and decided to view in IE to see if anything was different. It was. I could see the Leaderboards. It dawned on me that this might be the cause of my email problem. It was. I changed the email using IE and it's all fine and good.
I thought I would let everyone know in case anyone else has this situation.
Take care.
Thank you for the feedback! Really glad to hear you figured it out - - excellent!
