On your questions: the missing members and the member #, I think is simply a bug in the Ning platform. I have the same issue on all of my Ning sites. You would need to send a bug report to Ning Support, directly, at: http://help.ning.com/?page_id=20
On the email to all members:
1. Go to Manage
2. Click on Broadcast Message
3. Prepare your message (I think a limit of 2000 characters is set)
4. Click on Send
Message will be sent to all of your members who do not have email messages turned off.
